About Eco Soul Art & Lois Reed
“Art takes what is hidden in the Soul and gives it Form.
Our art is how we embody our Soul’s journey in this world.
Do it for the joy it creates! Do it for the healing it brings.
Render the invisible visible..”
Growing up I learned as we sketched & painted everywhere we journeyed. Some of my fondest memories are of us picnicking and drawing the plants growing by the streams.
… she taught me to see the purples in a winter field.
My lineage is filled with female artists.
My great-grandmother was an artist but was expected to give all of that creative expression up to raise her family.
When my grandmother had the chance to go to Cooper Union (in those days it was the R.I.S.D. of art schools), her brushes were broken by her mother & she was told to learn to cook and to sew.
My mother attended art school & was offered a position as top-artist for Hallmark upon graduating. Oddly, she turned that down to become a wife & mother. Even though her love for my father took precedance over a career, I watched her create my entire life, and often felt her restless spirit.
It is my hope, my intention, to break the cycle of tossed talent & unrealized dreams. While we watch the world tilt, and see times without choices lurking in the shadows, I will rise!
I want to share the magick with you.
I am an artist born of an artist who was born of an artist …
There is a transcendent experience when creating.
Creating brings a person to their core.
We touch our Soul when creating.
As Black Elk said:
“The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the Souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that its center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.”
Art gives us this connection, healing, and peace.
Nature gives us this connection, healing, and peace.
